Trump Extends Pause on Strikes Against Iranian Energy Facilities

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a 10-day extension of a pause on potential strikes targeting Iranian energy facilities, signaling that diplomatic efforts may still be in motion.

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump explained that the decision followed a request from Iran government. According to him, ongoing discussions between Washington and Tehran are progressing positively, despite skepticism in some media reports.

Originally, the pause was set to last just five days. However, with this latest announcement, it has now been extended to a full two weeks, pushing the deadline to April 6, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Trump struck an optimistic tone in his message, suggesting that negotiations are “going well,” even as conflicting narratives continue to emerge.

For now, Iran has not publicly responded to the extension or confirmed the request Trump referenced. That silence leaves room for speculation, but the extended pause may indicate that both sides are still exploring a diplomatic path forward.

What This Means

While the situation remains uncertain, the extension could be seen as a window of opportunity—one that allows both sides to continue talks and potentially avoid escalation. Whether this leads to a lasting agreement or simply delays tensions is something the coming days will reveal.
