Governorship aspirant and Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Professor Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin (DKS), yesterday demonstrated strong leadership capacity and a forward looking vision as he appeared before the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Screening Committee at Mahogany Hotel, Jericho, Ibadan.
The session provided an opportunity for Prof. Shangodoyin to present his governance blueprint and engage the committee on his readiness to lead Oyo State into its next phase of development. Drawing from his distinguished career as a Professor of Statistics and his extensive experience in public service, he articulated a well-structured plan anchored on continuity, innovation, and people-centered governance.
Prof. Shangodoyin, who has served meritoriously as Commissioner in key ministries including Education, Works, and Establishment & Training, highlighted how his wealth of experience has prepared him for the demands of leadership at the highest level. He noted that his current role as Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, alongside his responsibility as Acting Chairman of the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission (OYSERC), has positioned him at the forefront of critical reforms in the power sector.
He further emphasized his hands on role in driving strategic initiatives such as the 12MW Ibadan Independent Power Project, as well as his commitment to expanding rural electrification and strengthening infrastructure to support economic growth across the state.
Central to his presentation was his policy framework, “The Roadmap for Consolidation of Oyo State Developments (2027–2031),” which he described as a practical guide to sustaining ongoing progress while introducing innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
Members of the screening committee commended his depth of knowledge, clarity of ideas, and demonstrated capacity for transformative leadership, describing his engagement as insightful, comprehensive, and forward-looking.
Speaking after the session, Prof. Shangodoyin expressed appreciation for the opportunity and reaffirmed his commitment to purposeful leadership.
