Stakeholder Calls on Lawmaker Waheed Akintayo to Account for Three Years in Office

Zainab Olayiwola Demands Accountability from Lawmaker Waheed Akintayo

A community stakeholder and media professional, Zainab Olayiwola, has publicly called on Hon. Waheed Akintayo, widely known as Ilumoka Presenter of Success FM Ibadan, to provide a detailed account of his stewardship after nearly three years as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly.

In an open letter addressed to the lawmaker, Olayiwola acknowledged the strong grassroots support that propelled Akintayo into office, particularly from residents of Oluyole Local Government Area. She noted that many constituents believed his background in media and long-standing relationship with the community would result in accessible and effective representation.

However, she expressed disappointment over what she described as a lack of visible impact in several communities within Ward 2, including Taska-Olugbemi, Liberty Academy, and the Mogana/Idi-Iroko axis. According to her, residents have made repeated attempts to engage their representative but have seen little tangible outcome.

Olayiwola further alleged that community representatives were once left embarrassed after attending what was said to be a scheduled meeting with the lawmaker. The appointment, she claimed, had been arranged by the late Mrs. Afolakemi Oderinu, a former marketing manager with a pensioners’ radio platform, but the meeting reportedly did not hold. The incident, she said, deepened frustration among residents seeking attention to pressing local concerns.

The letter also mentioned unresolved community requests and described the death of Mrs. Oderinu as a painful loss to both the media community and local residents. As of the time of reporting, there was no independent confirmation regarding the circumstances of her death or any alleged link to outstanding community matters.

Olayiwola clarified that her earlier support for Akintayo was rooted in their previous professional association at Fresh FM Ibadan. Nevertheless, she stated that increasing concerns from residents compelled her to speak out.

On behalf of affected communities, she urged the lawmaker to publicly present a comprehensive record of projects, interventions, and constituency initiatives carried out since assuming office, emphasizing that the demand reflects the voice of ordinary citizens rather than political adversaries.

At press time, Hon. Akintayo had not issued an official response to the allegations or the call for accountability.
